Coastal wonder: Nobu Malibu pairs its signature cuisine with stunning ocean views
Few restaurants would dare to compete with the natural beauty of the Pacific Coast Highway, but Nobu’s Malibu outpost is more than a worthy candidate. Recently relocated to its current premiere beachfront location, Nobu Malibu now provides panoramic ocean views for each of its seats, alongside its trademark execution of modern Japanese cuisine. Whether it’s the spacious outdoor patio and lounge or the 14-seat sushi bar with floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing a view of the ocean, a chance to visit this coastal iteration of Nobu should not be missed.
True to Nobu Matsuhisa’s distinctive approach, executive chef Gregorio Stephenson delivers signatures such as yellowtail sashimi with jalapeno, tiradito black cod with miso, alongside refreshing Malibu favorites like rib eye with truffle butter sauce, a Nobu-style club sandwich and crab cakes with an uni bernaise. Better still, breakfast is served on the weekend. In Nobu terms, that translates to Jidori chicken and waffles and a 48-hour braised short rib spin on steak and eggs.
All this is effortlessly washed down with an impeccable cocktail menu that includes several signature martinis, including the Matsuhisa Martini (featuring vodka, sake, ginger, and cucumber), a Japanese Bloody Mary, and an array of mixed juices for the morning.
