Voss of Norway and officials from the Lofoten Masters have agreed to a multi-year agreement establishing VOSS as the official bottled water of the Lofoten Masters.

The Lofoten Masters is billed as the world’s northern most surfing competition. It takes place in Unstad among the Lofoten Islands more than 100 miles above the Arctic Circle. Unstad has only 15 residents, but 2,000 to 5,000 or more people visit the town each year to surf.

Approximately 50 mostly semi-professional surfers from Norway, Sweden, Brazil, Australia, South Africa, Russia and France will participate in this year’s Lofoten Masters which takes place September 21-24. During that time of the year the air temperature can be 45 and the water 50 degrees Fahrenheit, making the event not just the northernmost, but also the coldest. Competitors wear special wet suits to withstand the cold temperatures during the event.

Ken Gilbert, VOSS Chief Marketing Officer said “Associating with the Lofoten Masters is consistent with the VOSS brand pillars of purity and distinction. There’s nothing like this anywhere in the world and the setting is pure with its rawness and beauty. Plus, this is the perfect platform for reinforcing VOSS’ Norwegian origin.”

As part of the sponsorship, VOSS will have a major presence at the event. Videos and photography will be created for use in international social media, advertising and public relations. The VOSS logo will also be featured on clothing worn by the competing surfers. There will also be a custom VOSS Surfboard on display during the competition.

“We were quite happy when VOSS approached us to be an event sponsor” said Ole Kristian Fjelltun-Larsen, who represents the Lofoten Masters. “What also excited us was VOSS’ plans to leverage the sponsorship to increase worldwide interest in the competition.”
